Here is some basic music and guitar-related content to help you get started with your guitar lessons at AGS.
Please take the time to work through this material in order before your first class (length of videos is shown in lesson title).
You don’t have to have it all mastered, but an awareness will really help you get the most out of your early classes 🙂
Before you start, please download and print the accompanying PDF notes
Module 1
Rhythm is the key to everything. We need to understand this right from the start, because it will make everything we play sound better. Then we need to understand how both hands operate on the guitar… Finally we’ll learn how to read chord boxes and play our first 3 chords.

#1 – Music basics – rhythm (7m) #2 – Left and right hand technique (5m) #3 – Reading chord boxes (2m) #4 – G, Em and C (5m)Module 2
Learning to read rhythm notation will speed up the process of learning songs enormously. We’ll learn a few more chords, and ceck out how to read the easy guitar notation system called tablature.

Finally, let’s apply some of that rhythm notation knowledge to some simple exercises. And learn a very important new chord.
